5 out of 5 stars Huge, but in a good way...   August 9, 2010

I got this hammock for my wife's birthday. I love the cypress wood. It looks great and is very heavy and sturdy. I would recommend a water treatment before leaving outside for extended periods. I do have this in my sun room, but it takes up the whole room. I would not recommend this for indoors because of its size. We put a 2 person hammock on and it supported both my wife's weight and mine with no problems.

The packaging came a little damaged, but the wood inside was undamaged. Putting this together was easily enough. If you own your own tools, installation time will decrease greatly. With power tools, i was able to put the hammock together in about 20 minutes. Without your own tools (the hammock stand did come with some basic installation tools)i would imagine most people could put this together in about 2 hours or less.

1 out of 5 stars too short   July 11, 2010

This stand is too short. I have tried 12 and 13 ft hammocks, but once weight is in the hammock, it touches the bottom of the stand. You get what you pay for.

I purchased one of these stands a few years ago as I thought it looked so much prettier than the metal stands, one of which my sister bought at the same time.

The first year the wood aged to grey and got ugly so DH stained and sealed the entire thing. Unfortunately for the stain and seal, the hammock stand is outdoors all year and sometimes sitting in snow or wet grass for extended periods so the seal came off in parts making it look even worse.

Then ours first broke last summer when I was lying on it. The wood had delaminated and rotted so the bolt going through the wood and and holding the hammock just pulled right through the entire piece of wood and I crashed to the base of the hammock. Fortunately our hammock is thick and padded so all I suffered were a few bruises.

DH fixed the problem by drilling a new hole a couple of inches lower and putting HUGE washers on either side of the wood.

We had a summer party here a few weeks ago and two people were on the hammock. Total weight about 320 pounds. All of a sudden - SNAP - and the whole "beautiful curved arc" broke in two, once again depositing the relaxers onto the base. Fortunately no one was hurt this time either - they fell on either side of the big wooden base.

It's really heavy so has been sitting broken in the back yard. I plan to take it apart this weekend and toss it.

And that metal stand my sister bought, still going strong and looks as good as the day she bought it. Off to buy one of THOSE now.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Quality - Terrible Customer Service   June 16, 2010

I purchased the Hammock Stand for my husband. I agree, the holes did not line up, wood was cracked and rough. Also one of the bolts used to put the stand together was bent. Looks like this item was returned and then just sent out again without review. I have to say that the worst problem was that Quality Hammock's customer service is TERRIBLE. I contacted them immediately and five days later they have not even contacted me back to resolve the situation. Very poor customer service. I would not recommend purchasing anything from this company. Terri

4 out of 5 stars Check the length of your hammock   January 12, 2010

This is a typical "you-get-what-you-pay-for" item. Looks good from a distance but a little rough upon closer inspection. Holes were not neatly aligned so you may need a hammer to force the bolts in during assembly. The hardware is decent quality and appears as though it should wear well. Once assembled, the stand was strong and I have no concerns that it won't perform as expected for years. But if you're expecting the construction and quality to match the made-in-America versions you can buy for twice the price, you'll be disappointed.

My only mistake was assuming a universal hammock length. This stand is 13 1/2 feet long and the hammock I bought is 13 feet long, so there's about 2" of bottom clearance when I'm on the hammock. It won't be long before I have to re-tie the knots on the hammock to shorten its length.
