completely works June 20, 2010 Seascape (MA, USA) I have owned this model for a few years and it completely works. As a woman I don't have a massive amount of arm strength but this is easy to screw into the sand. We screw it in until you can barely see the top. It holds our beach umbrella in place in the breezy Cape Cod bays. It has never been pulled out by a wind gust. A essential tool for putting the umbrella in the sand.
Easy Shade June 10, 2010 L. Linder (Florida) The product was easy to transport and install on the beach, it gave us a day of shade by the water.
Works great at California Beaches! Highly recommend!! May 16, 2010 Michelle (San Diego CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This sand anchor works great for us! We have used it at ocean beaches and also at a lake.
So much easier than trying to dig the ubmrella in by itself! I'm surprised that some people have had problems with these not working--we have used ours in very windy weather and it held tight. Even when the cloth part of the umbrella went upside down in the wind the umbrella was still tight in the ground. Other people's umbrellas were flying away but not ours. Ours is like the all white one in the picture.
Highly recommend this anchor!!
It's worth the extra peace of mind May 7, 2010 A. Dent (Minas Anor, GD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got serious about a using an anchor after my cheekbone received a blow from our family-size beach umbrella as it was uprooted by the wind and blown away. It missed my eye by fractions of an inch but, as lucky as I was, it was no fun to wear a bandaid on my face for the rest of my vacation. Well, shortly after that accident, we ordered the Sand Anchor and we are quite happy with it so far.
Here is what we like about it:
- It goes in easily, with very little effort. There's no need to dig in the sand any more and the harder the sand, the more secure your umbrella is.
- So far, it performed well under moderate breeze conditions.
- It's durable, apparently made out of fiber glass and nylon. Being a one-body item - if you don't count the thumbscrew used to secure the umbrella pole - it's nearly indestructible.
- Easy to carry, light, easy to clean.
My only issue is the depth it goes, me being ever-so-careful now after our flying umbrella almost turned me into a cyclops. The Sand Anchor only goes down for about 11-12 inches. The makers claim that it should be sufficient to keep an umbrella in place on winds of up to 30 miles per hour but there are different sizes umbrellas and different kinds of sand. I would feel very safe with this planted into soft sand, especially if I had a large umbrella. We haven't had accidents so far because we are very careful to where our umbrella gets planted but I'd feel so much better if this was a couple of inches longer.
Great sand anchor! December 3, 2009 EAM (Virginia) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these before we went to the beach this summer and everyone thought I was nuts. As it turned out they were all jealous as soon as their umbrellas kept getting pulled out of the sand and mine didn't even budge.
