Product Description The Evolv Defy Climbing Shoes combine the sensitivity of a slipper with the precise fit and convenience of hook-and-loop closures. These Evolv shoes go on in seconds and provide top friction with TRAX XT-5 soles. A lined synthetic upper keeps the Defy Climbing Shoes from stretching and allows a precise fit right out of the box. Evolv designed these performance shoes for a snug-but-comfortable fit instead of the ridiculous tightness that some people think is necessary. Now you can have precision footwork without all the pain.

Fantastic July 28, 2010 t.bailey These shoes are my first pair of climbing shoes. I originally looked at them while shopping for climbing gear at REI. There, the shoes were 90 dollars. I decided to hold off on buying them right away and looked them up on Amazon to see if they were cheaper, which they were. 35 dollars cheaper. Of course I bought them, knowing I would pay through the nose elsewhere. Not only were they a great value, they also are quite functional. When climbing, I've noticed better foot control and I'm able to grip smaller foot holds more easily. The toe box is perfect for me because it's not to small for my exceptionally large big toe. I've taken them outdoors to climb some cliffs over the lake 45 minutes away and it was the perfect way to break them in. The cliffs there ranged from 20 to 60 feet, and the shoes performed well the whole time. The range of climbing was from a 5-7 to about a 5-9 outdoors. Be warned, they take a few days to dry. The tar on the bottom is of good quality, especially compared to the shoes we give the climbers at the gym. The fact that I don't have to tie them is also a huge plus. Overall I am very well pleased with these shoes. One of the best investments I've made in climbing.
Good Shoes, Cheap Price March 15, 2010 Kimbo Sice These shoes work great for indoor climbing, and they are the cheapest priced shoes on the market.
Decent starter shoe February 16, 2010 Luis Falero (Corona) These were the first climbing shoes I bought. They lasted about 6 months (climbing indoors 2-3 times a week) before I wore a whole in both toes. They are decently comfortable for a lower end shoe, but now that I have been climbing with my new 5.10 Anasazi's I can understand why they are so much cheaper. The Anasazi's are a huge step up in accuracy and aggressiveness, without really sacrificing any comfort. If you are new to climbing and aren't sure if you want to shell out $130 for shoes the eVolvs will be a good starting point, but if you want to do some real climbing look for something else. And start with the 5.10 Anasazi (FiveTen Men's Anasazi VCS Onyx Climbing Shoe)
Very Comfortable, Wear out quicker for rookies like me January 12, 2010 John Kucera 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was by far the most comfortable shoe I tried on and 8 months later I still love them, but wore a hole in the toe from my early days of foot mashing on the walls.
Know if you're a rookie like I was, the toe will wear out if you use the wall like sand paper instead of more seasoned foot work. Mine lasted ~8 months and I just ordered a new pair that will hopefully last 12 months with better footwork.
Pretty good shoe January 8, 2010 SB I bought these as my first climbing shoe, and they've been great. They're comfortable and perform well. There is one main problem that I wish I knew about ahead of time though. I climb without socks, as alot of people I know do, and after about 10 to 15 uses, they begin to smell pretty bad. So if you have somewhere to put them and let them air out it shouldn't be too big a deal, but its something to know
